What's different about Limerick
Limerick is a river city, and that shows in its plumbing: the water comes from the Shannon, a lot of the old network is being replaced, and parts of the city have flooded. What we checked:
- Limerick City's water comes from the River Shannon and is treated at Clareville Water Works, which delivers 48,000 to 50,000 cubic metres a day. (Limerick City and County Council)
- In 2025, Uisce Éireann put net leakage in the Limerick City water resource zone at 30.0%, or 13.65 million litres a day. (Uisce Éireann leakage figures)
- Uisce Éireann is replacing over 1.1 km of ageing cast iron mains on O'Donoghue Avenue, Clansfort Terrace, Glenmore Avenue and Mulgrave Street, where older backyard connections are typically iron or lead. (Uisce Éireann, 28 Nov 2025)
- Over a kilometre of old mains on Brookville Avenue, prone to bursts and leakage, was replaced in works that began in March 2025. (Limerick Post, 22 Jul 2025)
- King's Island flooded on 1 February 2014. The King's Island Flood Relief Scheme, agreed with the OPW, will protect 506 homes and 22 other properties from tidal flooding. (Limerick City and County Council, 30 Sep 2024)
- County Limerick had 85,363 homes at the 2022 census, up 4% from 82,112 in 2016. (CSO figures, Limerick Post)
- Limerick Eircodes start with V94, and the property listings we checked for every area below carry V94 Eircodes. (Eircode list)
So if several houses on your road lose pressure at once, it's likely the mains, not your pipes: Uisce Éireann posts supply updates on water.ie. In an older city house, ask the plumber what your supply pipe is made of. Then send the job with the form, in your own words.
Prices
What a plumber costs in Limerick, from published prices
We couldn't find a plumber based in Limerick who publishes a fixed rate card. These ranges combine plumbersinireland.ie's Limerick pages (a referral site: on its emergency and drain pages the figures are the same as on its Dublin pages), a Limerick boiler firm's starting prices, and what plumbers in Ennis and Cork and a Cork price guide publish, checked 25 October 2026. They're Limerick and Munster figures, not a national average, but none of them is a Limerick plumber's own rate card.
Hourly rate. Published weekday hourly rates run €60–€150 across three sources: plumbersinireland.ie (guide), Limerick: €60–€100/hour, VAT not stated (source); Central Clare Plumbing Company, Ennis, Co. Clare: €85/hour, VAT not stated (source); HomePros.ie (guide), Cork: €75–€150/hour, incl. VAT (source). Prices are as published, so ask for the price with VAT.
Call-out fee. Published call-out fees in normal hours run €70–€150: plumbersinireland.ie (guide), Limerick page, same figures as its Dublin page: €70–€120, incl. VAT (source); plumbersinireland.ie (guide), Limerick: €80–€150, VAT not stated (source); Crowley Plumbing, Cork City & Suburbs: €80–€150, VAT not stated (source). plumbersinireland.ie (guide) says a call-out fee "covers travel and the first 30 to 60 minutes of labour". Ask what it covers before anyone comes out.

FAQ
Questions people ask
How much does a plumber cost in Limerick?
We couldn't find a plumber based in Limerick who publishes a fixed hourly rate, so we compare Limerick price guides with what plumbers and a price guide in Ennis and Cork publish. Published weekday hourly rates run €60–€150 across three sources: plumbersinireland.ie (guide), Limerick: €60–€100/hour, VAT not stated (source); Central Clare Plumbing Company, Ennis, Co. Clare: €85/hour, VAT not stated (source); HomePros.ie (guide), Cork: €75–€150/hour, incl. VAT (source). Prices are as published, so ask for the price with VAT. See every published price.
Is there a call-out fee?
Published call-out fees in normal hours run €70–€150: plumbersinireland.ie (guide), Limerick page, same figures as its Dublin page: €70–€120, incl. VAT (source); plumbersinireland.ie (guide), Limerick: €80–€150, VAT not stated (source); Crowley Plumbing, Cork City & Suburbs: €80–€150, VAT not stated (source). plumbersinireland.ie (guide) says a call-out fee "covers travel and the first 30 to 60 minutes of labour". Ask what it covers before anyone comes out.
Do evenings and weekends cost more?
Yes. Published emergency and out-of-hours call-outs run €100–€350 (three sources), and out-of-hours labour runs €90–€225 an hour (four sources). Some of these include VAT and some don't say. Ask for the out-of-hours rate before the plumber sets off.
Which parts of Limerick do you cover?
The city and suburbs: Castletroy, Raheen, Dooradoyle, Corbally, Caherdavin and the Ennis Road and North Circular area, plus Annacotty, Castleconnell, Mungret and Patrickswell. We pass your request to one plumber who covers that area. See all the areas.
Who does gas and boiler work?
Only a Registered Gas Installer (RGI). By law, nobody else can do gas work in your home (CRU). If your job involves the gas boiler or a gas pipe, the person who comes out must be RGI-registered. You can check anyone on rgi.ie.
How soon will a plumber ring me?
We don't promise a time. We pass your request to one local plumber who covers your area, and the plumber contacts you to talk through the job and when they can come. If it's urgent, ring the number at the top of the page, or say so in the message box. If water is leaking, turn it off at the stopcock while you wait.
How much does it cost to unblock a drain in Limerick?
Published prices to unblock a drain in normal hours run €80–€150 (one source, incl. VAT). Out of hours, a call-out alone runs €100–€350. Pick "Blocked sink, toilet or drain" in the form.
Are you a plumbing company?
No. Plumber Limerick is an introduction service run by Bartlomiej Standa. You tell us the job, and we pass it to one local plumber who covers your area. The plumber gives you the price and does the work, and you deal with them directly. Sending a request is free.
My pressure dropped and the neighbours' did too. Is it my pipes?
Probably not. When several houses lose pressure at once, it's usually the mains: Uisce Éireann posts supply updates on water.ie. If it's only your house, check the stopcock is fully open, then send the job.
I live in an older city house. Should I ask about lead pipes?
It's worth asking. Uisce Éireann says older backyard connections in parts of the city are typically iron or lead, and it is replacing ageing cast iron mains on streets such as Mulgrave Street (Uisce Éireann). A plumber can check what your supply pipe is made of.
